QUEEN NATION THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS HOSTED BY KATIE DARYL AXS.TV 5/13/2013

WebsiteBanner_TributeQueenNation.jpg

Queen Nation just paid tribute to one of the greatest rock-n-roll bands ever on AXS.TV via a stunning  live performance.

The band has been around for quite a while and has deservedly earned its reputation as the premiere Queen tribute.

The Roxy was packed when Katie Daryl introduced the band to start off the program.

They were able to cover quite a few songs in the vast Queen catalog, including “Killer Queen”,  “Tie Your Mother Down”, “Fat Bottomed Girls” and a super-charged version of “Don’t Stop Me Now” .

The attendees were blown away by how accurately they were able to recreate their live concert and transport the audience back to a Queen show  in the 80s.  It was amazing.

The Roxy was hopping with the bass-driven “Another One Bites The Dust” and “Under Pressure”.

One of the highlights is when they handed a pair of handlebars with bicycle bells for a little audience participation during “Bicycle Race”.

The bass and drums were spot-on.  The guitar solos, piano and vocals were so accurate, it was almost surreal.  Mission accomplished for being The World’s Best Tribute Band for Queen!

They did an outstanding (although, due to television time limits, a somewhat condensed) version of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, everyone was dancing around to “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and they did a very high energy version of  “Stone Cold Crazy”, which was covered by Metallica years ago and really impressed the guys from Damage Inc., who were in attendance in anticipation for next week’s performance on AXS.TV’s THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS.

The encore included “We Will Rock You”, “We Are The Champions” and ended with a remarkable version of “Hammer To Fall”.

Interviews with DSB’s Scotty and Roger with pictures and a preview of the things to come from the band

I met up with my buddies Raquel and Lorn at The Roxy, where DSB was the featured act a few weeks ago for The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands on AXS.TV.

 DSC00855

After an incredible performance of DSB’s Journey tribute  that was broadcast to 40 million homes, they showed, without a shadow of a doubt, why they are considered the best and most authentic Journey tribute band out there.

We wanted to find out how things have been going for them since and what we can look forward to for the show this Friday Night at The Canyon Club, as well as what their summer plans look like in terms of them touring the country.

Drummer Scotty Kormos and Guitarist Roger Cain took time both before and after the show to talk with Lon and Raquel to speak of their experience after having the chance of a lifetime, where they gave more insight into the band, spoke of their upcoming plans and what it meant to play a live concert for 40 million viewers on national TV.

Not only are they great musicians, they are also very intelligent, down to earth guys.

Absolutely incredible!!!

Wild Child has been playing the Sunset Strip for over 20 years.   Many who were in attendance at their shows at the Whisky back in the 90s were here tonight.  And the Doors played at the same venue in June 1966 when they opened for Van Morrison.

This band is the real deal when it comes to paying tribute to the music of The Doors.

Led by Dave Brock, who is the closest thing to Jim Morrison you could ever imagine, this band does a remarkable job playing The Doors music with accuracy and authenticity.

They brought The Doors’ music alive.

Dave Brock is so spot-on with his renditions of Doors tunes that he actually is the singer for two of the three original, surviving members of the Doors, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, and has been touring with them since 2010.   That’s the top of the heap right there.  He is definitely the reigning “Lizard King”.  And rightfully so.

SET LIST:

BREAK ON THROUGH

LOVE ME TWO TIMES

SOUL KITCHEN

PEOPLE ARE STRANGE

HELLO, I LOVE YOU

ALABAMA SONG

LOVE HER MADLY

TOUCH ME

RIDERS ON THE STORM

ROADHOUSE BLUES

LIGHT MY FIRE

LA WOMAN

They also did “When The Music Ends” when they went off air.   I was then hoping for “Gloria” (and another hour of music for the enthusiastic crowd), but the bonus tune was still great.   Part of me feels like I just saw The Doors in concert.  Watching it again on TV just intensified that feeling.  I want to see them again.  And soon.
