JOHN BONHAM BIRTHDAY BASH AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES (AKA BONZO’S BIRTHDAY BASH) SUNSET 5/31/2012

Concertologist's avatar2012 Concerts

This show took place on what would have been John Bonham’s 64th birthday.  He passed when he was only 32, so he’s been gone about as long as he was here.  I could write a book about this event.  With all the performers, the tons of Led Zeppelin songs that were played and everything that went onon, there was no way for me to keep up and remember everything.   It was overload in a good way.

This show was a mix of drumming on an authentic looking John Bonham live kit by an assorted cast of musical legends- mostly drummers, of course.

It started with an acoustic set, which was probably my favorite part of the show.  Lorraine Lewis got up and played “Thank You”.   At the end of the set, they added a string section…

LYNYRD SKYNYRD PLAYED SOME INCREDIBLE SOUTHERN ROCK at CLUB NOKIA 10/2/2012

Concertologist's avatar2012 Concerts

I saw Skynyrd a few years ago at the Gibson and they were phenomenal.   They even topped that performance tonight.   They jammed through great song after song at the Club Nokia.   In addition to great singing, they had an excellent triple guitar attack, a great rhythm section, awesome piano playing and good back-ups singers.  The set list was perfect.   I’d see Skynyrd again and again.   I feel a road trip coming on.

SEBASTIAN BACH’S NEW GUITARIST- JEFF GEORGE

Concertologist's avatar2012 Concerts

It’s a Wednesday afternoon in West Hollywood.   My buddy and I had just attended the show and after party at the Def Leppard concert filmed for YouTube at the House of Blues.  Afterwards, we made our  way to Saddle Ranch for a late lunch.   We were seated next to a friendly bunch of dudes.  I recognized one of them from jamming with Sebastian Bach the year before at a Steel Panther show.

We hung out and talked to them as they goofed off at the table next to us.  They had just come from the same show.   We all talked about rock-n-roll.    They were hilarious.    Right before we were leaving, they were jamming out on the patio with the tableside musicians from the restaurant.   I now realize that in addition to Danny Worsnop from Asking Alexandria and that is Jeff George that comes in at the end next to the…
