Barbarian Overlords Rocked the House of Blues Sunset 9/17/2012

I was first made aware of Brandon Kachel as he started gaining recognition for his drumming (and love for John Bonham) when he landed an appearance in a Bonzo tribute gig with The Moby Dicks.   Brandon is such a Bonzo devotee that he has wrestled professionally under the name “Brandon Bonham”.  How cool is that?

Brandon plays in the Barbarian Overlords, a four piece rock n roll band.  After seeing them perform on YouTube, I made the trek out to the House of Blues to see them open for Steel Panther.   What a good call that was.

From the moment they started playing, I didn’t exactly feel like it was 2012 and that was a good thing.

The band tore through a killer 30 minute set of great, original tunes.  They’re high energy blues-based rock that really delivers.    The crowd…

Hanging backstage with the Barbarian Overlords after their gig was quite enjoyable.

It wasn’t so much an interview as it was just a normal, candid conversation caught on video.

This band is definitely going places (a recap of their performance earlier in the evening).

Here they are discussing their influences, playing live,  writing, planning and recording for the new record….

HAZ7MAX and DANIEL AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES SUNSET 9/17/2012

Concertologist's avatar2012 Concerts

After all the wild fun on The Sunset Strip last Saturday, Haz7MaX and Daniel met up at The House of Blues to check out the Barbarian Overlords and Steel Panther.

After enjoying both bands’ sets, Max took to the harmonica and had all kinds of fun with everyone in attendance.   It was a great time as Max jammed in and around the venue making tons of fans and friends in the process.

We saw people from the Yamaha event on Saturday, people from The Strip that evening and partied with all kinds of people.  It was another great night in West Hollywood with Max and Daniel.

Huge thanks to Yamaha, Billy, Phil X, Russ Miller  and everyone else involved for one of the most enjoyable days I’ve ever had.   Everyone in attendance was treated like royalty at this incredible event.    It was wonderful to be able to interact with Billy – he was so generous with sharing his knowledge, talent and instruments.  What a treat it was to be able to try out some of the legendary basses he’s played over the years.    I can’t think of anything else that would top how cool of a time this was.   Wonderful people, great food and drinks, nice prizes, incredible playing – it was unbelievable – truly the experience of a lifetime!!
